Cemetery Gates

Here's what I've got so far. After all the work, the cemetery looks pretty lame in daylight. I was hoping it would look better...*sigh*

cemetery_06_right.jpg (288317 bytes)

The right side of the yard looks better than the left. I think I'll move the five stones on the left over to the right to make it look better/fuller...is fuller a word?

Here's Death stalking our graveyard...he looks much better at night with the blue spot on him...

mausoleum_screwed.jpg (149978 bytes)

We FINALLY got the mausoleum stones on to stay (knock on wood). The top ones rub our shelving when the door opens, so I've got my fingers crossed it'll stay together enough for Halloween.

The stones took quite a beating after being in two heavy wind/rain storms and blowing all over the yard, but I think it just gives them character. I'm deciding if I need to paint the screws/washers or not...

durango_mausoleum.jpg (229797 bytes)

Try to picture the Durango hearsified. (Spell check is trying to tell me hearsified isn't a word. Idiots.) he he

blucky_and_friend.jpg (268325 bytes)

I got this idea from WormyT. Loved hers, so had to duplicate!

unfinished_stone.jpg (234724 bytes)

Loved the look of this one when I started, then I wrecked it with the engraving. I was SO seriously bummed. Oh well. Life goes on. I guess this is what happens when you try to rush serious art!

Thought the saying was pretty good though...

single_pvc_instone.jpg (287170 bytes)

Just some shots of how I mounted my stones. I got seriously sick of having to go fix them daily. We finally got a method we like. PVC and liquid nails. It's a beautiful thing.

pvc_with_supports.jpg (331384 bytes)

Needed two on the larger stones.

baseofstone_flood.jpg (299170 bytes)

Another picture.

back_novacancy.jpg (254503 bytes)

Our "no vacancy" sign was a nightmare. Very heavy with all the lights, extra foam, cardboard, so we had to liquid nail the pvc into the foam, then cover them with more extra foam, THEN screw the foam on (gently so as not to strip the foam). That suckers not moving!

back_cross_stone.jpg (248286 bytes)

Another picture.

obelisk_base.jpg (148703 bytes)

Here's the base of our obelisk. Just rebar, pvc and liquid nails. Holds it beautifully.

witchiepoo_death.jpg (140585 bytes)

A picture of our two guests, Witchiepoo and Death coming to the party...

halloween_night_house.jpg (74747 bytes)

A shot of the house at night.

halloween_night_death.jpg (120121 bytes)

Death in the dark...

halloween_night_isabelle.jpg (87649 bytes)

Isabelle. Unfortunately, the winds were horrible the day before, and our ghosts really took a beating. Here Isabelle's head was dropping back more than it should have. I'm hoping next year will be warmer and less windy.

halloween_night_mausoleum.jpg (107928 bytes)

A shot of the Mausoleum at night.

halloween_night_witch.jpg (157500 bytes)

And a picture of the witch next to her bubbling cauldron. The rocking chair is rocking just to the left of the picture...we didn't get a picture of it. It was so bloody cold this year, we didn't even put everything out...*sigh* Here's hoping next year will be better.
